Day 01: Islamabad Arrival
Arrive at Islamabad International Airport Islamabad. Meet, assist & transfer to the hotel. AM at leisure. PM Islamabad city tour. Our sightseeing tour will start from, Faisal Mosque, Shakar Parian & National monument with a trip to Damn-e-Koh, to catch an eye bird view of the twin cities. Overnight at the hotel. (No meals).
Day 02: Islamabad-Chilas
After breakfast drive to Chilas. Chilas was on the ancient caravan track over the Babusar Pass into India and on the Indus trail of Besham, and many rock engravings/impressions were left by travelers in this area. Chilas is standing under the shadow of world famous Killer mountain Nanga Parbat. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
After breakfast drive to Karimabad. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel. Karimabad is the delightful old capital of the Hunza Kingdom. From Karimabad, with its souvenir shop, post office and tea shop, you can obtain a magnificent view of the valley laid out below you and of the peaks behind. Karimabad area is sprinkled with wild flowers and blossoming fruit orchards. We will spend half our day in this town enjoying the greenery and delighting in the sound of water falls. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 04: Karimabad-Khunjrab Pass-Gulmit
After Breakfast proceed to Attabad Lake view through friendship tunnels and continue onward to Gulmit/Hussaini and proceed to Khunjrab Pass, which is a full day trip from Karimabad. We shall stay in Gulmit Village (summer capital of Hunza Valley) on return from Khunjrab. Khunjrab pass at 4,733 meters is the true border between Pakistan and China although the customs posts are at Sost and Tashkurgan. The Karakuram highway runs through the Khunjrab Pass, the highest border crossing with smooth road in the world to Tashkurgan China. Traffic is light as one can change from right to left hand driving at the top. Overnight at the hotel in Gulmit. (Breakfast only).
After breakfast drive to Ghulkin & onward trek to Borit. The trail is well define & used by the local as their main route between Gulmit and Ghulkin. On the way you will have a good view of Jerab glacier, the Jerab peaks and Passu Cathedrals. From Ghulkin we trek onward to take a mini trek to “Borit Lake”. The lake site was the duck hunting ground for the Mir of Hunza & is a point surrounded by lofty peaks with excellent panoramic views. Camp by lake side around 2500 meters. We will visit the cultural museum, the oldest known local house and the old Polo field before ascending to Ghulkin village. Overnight in tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 06: Borit-Luzdhar
After breakfast trek to Luzhdar. Trek to Luzhdar, 6-7 hours hike. Pass through Passu Glacier, 3-4 hours with parts of white ice and large boulders. The route follows a trail nearby to the glacier as we carry on the shepherd’s route. Luzhdar camp is at the Patundas base meadow and is situated adjacent to the Passu glacier, with a high shale cliff on its back. Overnight in tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 07: Luzdhar-Patundas
After breakfast trek to Patundas. This trek takes us in 4 – 5 hours continuous steep hike to Patundas, loose rock trail with switchbacks. Patundas is a meadow at the crest of a small hill with some greenery, but mostly barren. This trek takes you to the fascinating area of Upper Hunza, the highlight being Patundas Meadows 4,575 meters, a vantage point which offers views of an ocean of peaks; Passu group 7284 to 7500 m, Batura group 7,500 to 7,785 m, Shispar 7611m, Dastagil Sar 7895, Mohmil Sar 7,342 m, Rakaposhi 7,790 m and many more. Spend the rest day feasting your eyes on the ocean of peaks and awe – inspiring views of this enchanted land of Hunza. Overnight in tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
Day 08: Patundas
After breakfast free day at Patundas to explore the area. Overnight in tents. (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner).
After breakfast descend to Passu (3-4 hrs) following the glacier upto Yong Alm (2900m) and followed a rocky trail to Karakuram Highway and drive to Karimabad. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Karimabad. (Breakfast only).
Day 10: Karimabad
After breakfast full day city tour of Hunza including Baltit Fort. Karimabad is the delightful old capital of the Hunza Kingdom. From Karimabad, with its souvenir shop, post office and tea shop, you can obtain a magnificent view of the valley laid out below you and of the peaks behind. The Aliabad / Karimabad area is scattered with wild flowers and blossoming fruit orchards. We will spend half our day in these two towns enjoying the greenery and delighting in the sound of water falls. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 11: Karimabad-Gilgit
Breakfast at the hotel. AM. At leisure morning while exploring the area, afternoon we shall drive to Gilgit. Upon arrival transfer to Hotel, and proceed for Gilgit Bazaar excursion, suspension bridge. Gilgit is the administrative center and economic hub of Gilgit/Baltistan. It lies in the heart of the Karakuram, at 1500metres, near the confluence of the Hunza and Gilgit Rivers. The bazaar is modernizing, from shacks to two storey cement shops, NLI Market with a selection of Pakistani, Chinese and European goods. Well worth taking home are Chinese silk, and saffron, worth its weight in gold! Gilgit is home to many freestyle polo teams, and if you are in town during a tournament you are in for an exciting afternoon of traditional music, non-stop play, free style polo match. Overnight at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
After breakfast transfer to Gilgit airport for flight to Islamabad by PK-606 or PK-608 (Subject to weather flight). Transfer to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Islamabad. or PM at leisure in Islamabad/Rawalpindi. (Breakfast only). (If flight cancels then, we will drive via Karakuram Highway to reach Islamabad on the way overnight stay in Besham). Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. Next day drive to Islamabad. (Breakfast only).
NOTE:- Confirmation of flight to/from Gilgit is subject to weather on provisional bookings and confirmation of seat is expected one day before. Confirmation depends on previous backlog.
Day 13: Islamabad
Drive to Islamabad via Taxila. Overnight at the hotel. Or Proceed to Taxila for day excursion. Overnight stay at the hotel. (Breakfast only).
Day 14: Islamabad Departure
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your home bound flight. (Breakfast only).
